Blink Twice

Matt and Eric watched Blink Twice.
 
Blink Twice is the first film from actress turned director Zoe Kravitz. It stars Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Adria Arjona, and Alia Shawkat. It follows waitresses Frida (Ackie) and Jess (Shawkat) who are invited to the private island of millionaire Slater King (Tatum). Things get progressively worse from there as reality begins to unravel.

Alien: Romulus

We watched Alien: Romulus. 
 
Alien: Romulus was released on Aug. 16th, 2024. It was directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don't Breathe), and is a continuation of the long-running Alien franchise. Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, and follows a group of young scavengers who come across facehuggers and xenomorphs while aboard an abandoned space station.

Matt and Eric review Jordan Peele's 2022 masterpiece Nope.
 
Nope stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Brandon Perea. The film follows OJ (Kaluuya), a horse-trainer in California who begins to experience strange UFO phenomena.

M. Night Can't TRAP THE BEAST

Once again, Matt and Eric saw and reviewed two different movies!
 
Matt saw The Beast, the latest film from French director Bertrand Bonello. The Beast stars Lea Seydoux and George MacKay, and centers around a future where emotions have become a threat, and must be purged to allow for coexistence with artificial intelligence. The Beast is currently streaming on Criterion Channel.
 
Eric saw Trap, the latest film from director M. Night Shyamalan. Trap centers around a man named Cooper (Josh Hartnett), who takes his teenage daughter to a pop concert, only to realize the event has been set up to ensnare him (because he is a serial killer). Trap is currently in theaters.
 
Matt and Eric also discuss the latest movie news (Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, Gladiator 2 updates, Inside Out 2 box office success, etc.), and give a weekly recommendation.

Deadpool and Wolverine

Deadpool and Wolverine was released on July 26th, 2024, and was directed by Shawn Levy. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova. The film is the third entry in the Deadpool franchise, and serves as the bridge between the Fox and Disney Marvel franchises.

Twisters

The one where the gang discusses Twisters (2024).
 
Twisters is a sequel/remake of the 1996 blockbuster Twister. It was directed by Lee Isaac Chung, and stars Daisy Edgar Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. It follows a group of scientists and thrill seekers attempting to develop a technology to collapse tornadoes.

Matt saw Maxxxine, the newest film from Ti West and the final entry in the X trilogy. Maxxxine stars Mia Goth, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, and Bobby Cannvale.
 
Eric saw Longlegs, a new horror film from director Osgood Perkins, following an FBI agent's pursuit of a deadly serial killer. Longlegs stars Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, and Nicolas Cage.

The one where the gang discusses Sorcerer (1977).
 
Sorcerer was directed by William Friedkin and stars Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal, and Amidou. Four men from different parts of the globe, all hiding from their pasts in the same remote South American town, agree to risk their lives transporting gallons of unstable nitroglycerin across dangerous jungle.

The one where the gang talks A Quiet Place: Day One.
 
A Quiet Place: Day One was released on June 28th, 2024, and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig). This film stars Lupita N'Yongo and Joseph Quinn. It is the third entry in the A Quiet Place franchise, and follows a terminally-ill woman (N'Yongo) as she navigates a world thrown into chaos by invading monsters who have a heightened sense of hearing.
